Vidyāvācaspati Dr. Bannanje Govindacharya Born on 3-Aug-1936 in Bannanje Village of temple town Udupi.
During Acharya’s schooling days, he studied Madhva-shastra in the traditional Gurukula style in Udupi, under the guidance of scholars such as Shri Padumunnur Narayanacharya and Shri Vidyaamaanya Teertha Svāmījī. Later, he voluntarily took up an extensive study of Vedic scriptures and Sanskrit literature, giving up formal education of modern vintage.
In Acharya’s early years, he nearly spent 18 hours a day, in studies and research. He gained mastery in the above fields mostly through self-study and contemplation. At the young age of 25, Acharya was well-versed in Vedas, Vedanta, Itihaasas, Puranas, Sahitya, Vyakarana etc.
Acharya has mastery in 3 languages viz. Sanskrit, Kannada and Tulu.
